Strategic Shift Towards Defence Self-Reliance

The global defence environment is shifting due to tariff wars, disrupted supply chains, and heightened geopolitical risks. The Ministry of Defence is now prioritising a decentralised and locally-driven ecosystem to overcome overreliance on foreign components. This shift is not only bolstering national security but also boosting employment and economic output in India’s defence industrial base.

With growing global demand for advanced Indian military equipment—such as light combat aircraft, missile systems, and naval platforms—the Ministry of Defence is confident in achieving the Rs 50,000 crore milestone. The current trajectory, backed by policy reforms and technological advancement, positions India as a key exporter in the global defence market.
