The Reserve Bank of India will infuse Rs.80,000 crore liquidity via four open market operation tranches in April 2025. This follows March’s Rs.1 lakh crore injection to balance market conditions and ease volatility amid global and domestic uncertainty.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a fresh round of open market operation (OMO) purchases totalling Rs.80,000 crore to support liquidity in the banking system. These purchases will be conducted in four equal tranches of Rs.20,000 crore each on April 3, April 8, April 22, and April 29, 2025. This marks the highest OMO action in four years and highlights RBI’s proactive stance on maintaining financial system stability amid evolving macroeconomic challenges.

This move comes on the heels of March’s OMO activity where RBI injected Rs.1 lakh crore liquidity in two equal tranches of Rs.50,000 crore. The operations have significantly improved the liquidity situation, turning a major deficit into a surplus by the end of FY25. Market participants anticipate continued support from the central bank to sustain financial stability, which could have a bearing on RBI share price trends amid macroeconomic shifts.
Auction Date | Amount (Rs. crore) | Operation Type |
April 3 | 20,000 | Government Security Purchase |
April 8 | 20,000 | Government Security Purchase |
April 22 | 20,000 | Government Security Purchase |
April 29 | 20,000 | Government Security Purchase |
The central bank’s liquidity infusion measures are vital amid uncertain economic recovery signs, inflation concerns, and global market volatility. By stabilising liquidity, RBI aims to create a smoother financial environment, which may influence investor sentiment and the performance of RBI share price in coming weeks.
As the RBI navigates market complexities, its consistent interventions play a critical role in cushioning financial disruptions. Observers will closely monitor future steps and their impact on RBI share price and overall market behaviour.
