BSE Ltd. announced a 2:1 bonus share issue on 30 March 2025, offering two equity shares for every one share held by investors as on the record date. This move marks the second bonus issue since its listing in 2017, the previous one also being a 2:1 bonus in 2022. Following the news, BSE share price surged 16.09% to close at Rs 5,438 on Friday. The record date for the bonus issue will be announced in due course.

Investors holding BSE shares before the ex-date will be eligible for the bonus shares. Those buying shares on or after the ex-date will not qualify. The issuance of bonus shares is aimed at increasing paid-up capital and EPS, while reducing reserves through capitalisation. These shares are offered at no additional cost, making them attractive for long-term shareholders.
Since its listing, BSE has maintained steady shareholder returns through dividends and buybacks. The total dividend payout has exceeded Rs 170 per share, along with share buybacks conducted in 2019 and 2023. The company’s capital management strategy reflects its consistent efforts to reward shareholders. The recent 2:1 bonus aligns with this trend.
