The funds raised will assist Vodafone Idea in clearing outstanding dues to Indus Towers, which currently amount to ₹3,500 crore.
Last week, Vodafone Group sold its 3% stake in Indus Towers via block deals, generating ₹2,802 crore. A portion of these proceeds is expected to be reinvested in Vodafone Idea to facilitate debt repayment and operational stability.
Earlier this year, Vodafone Idea conducted India’s largest Follow-on Public Offer (FPO), raising over ₹18,000 crore. However, the Vodafone Idea share price has experienced significant correction since its peak of ₹19 earlier this year, now trading at ₹8.11, reflecting a 52% decline in 2024.
The planned equity issuance is a critical step for Vodafone Idea as it continues to address its financial obligations. Despite challenges, the premium pricing offers a positive outlook for operational liquidity.
Vodafone Idea’s decision to issue shares worth ₹1,980 crore underlines its focus on financial restructuring and operational resilience. As the telecom sector evolves, this strategic move positions the company for improved stability and growth.
