What is position trading and how does it differ from other trading styles?

Position trading is a long-term trading strategy where traders hold stocks for weeks, months, or even years. The position trading strategy focuses on long-term gains from price movements.

Unlike day trading or swing trading, which focuses on intraday price fluctuations or targets medium-term trends over a few days or weeks, position trading prioritizes long-term market trends and larger gains.

Position traders depend heavily on fundamental analysis, such as company performance, industry trends, economic indicators, and technical analysis to identify and take advantage of major market moves. Since the position trading strategy involves fewer trades and longer holding periods, it requires patience to deal with market fluctuations, as traders avoid reacting to short-term price changes.

The main advantage of position trading is its lower time commitment compared to more active trading styles.
